This is how you help protect our unique environments
UNESCO's World Heritage site of the Naval Port of Karlskrona and the Blekinge Archipelago Biosphere Reserve are unique. We all share the responsibility of preserving them for future generations. Below, we have gathered some advice and tips for you, who want to enjoy these unique places.
Love us carefully
Some areas are extra sensitive and even more protected; therefore, it is important that you are careful when you visit them. Find out what recommendations there are for the places you are going to visit. Respect and follow the signs and the information available at the sites, such as warning signs and access prohibitions.
Leave footprints in your hearts but not in the places
Buildings, public art and monuments are important for the future. Do not climb on them or cover them with graffiti. Protect nature and culture in the world heritage and biosphere reserve. Take your litter and recycle it. Always follow the designated paths and don’t forget to close the gates behind you. Be careful with fire, respect fire bans and keep dogs under effective
control. Show consideration for the local communities.
Protect our wonderful water
Water and the sea are important resources for our unique places. Enjoy archipelago tours and swimming in the sea but do not pollute it and never throw anything into the sea that does not come from the sea in the first place. Save water when you shower. Contribute to sustainability and fill your water bottle with tap water.
Support local culture and trade
Feel free to take part in the local culture and traditions and contribute to its continued existence. By choosing locally produced food and local products, you support sustainable development.
Climate smart travel
Travel sustainably and use local transport. Cycle, paddle or walk whenever possible instead of taking the car.
By calculating the carbon footprint of your trip here Travel and climate, you can make an informed choice based on your possibilities.
